A 40-minute weekly online gathering for founders who've lost, closed or left their businesses.

Connect, reflect, find solidarity. Facilitated by Bonnie Chung

Every founder deserves a curtain call.

Losing or separating from a business is one of the loneliest, toughest experiences for an entrepreneur to go through.

We know this because we’ve interviewed more than 200 of them.

While there are countless communities cheering founders on as they start and scale their businesses, where do they go when it's all over?

——

Curtain Call is a free, weekly 40-minute online gathering for founders who have lost or separated from their business, to help make sense of their experiences, to acknowledge what great work they have done, and to reflect on what they will take forward.

Hosted and facilitated by Bonnie Chung - a recovering entrepreneur herself - it's a welcoming space to share stories, explore perspectives, reflect creatively and connect with people who really understand what you’re going through.

There will be one creative reflective exercise in every session to participate in, but sharing is optional.

No judgement, no pressure to bounce back. You don't even need to name your business if you don’t want to - Just come as you are.

You may have separated from your business yesterday, a year ago, ten years ago, it doesn’t matter. Loss is loss, endings are endings and we are here for all of it.

Every week, same time, same place.

Come as many times as you want - It’s free.

creative reflective facilitation

Curtain Call is not just a circle that holds you, it also aims to heal you a bit.

Hosted and facilitated by Bonnie, a recovering entrepreneur herself, she invites the group to participate in one small exercise each week - a question to ponder, a memo to write, a poem to reflect on, a person to think about.

There is no obligation to share reflections back to the group, nor to even name the business. There is huge value simply in the pause and reflection.

Bonnie will always share her reflection in the group, as part of the exercise, then should anyone wish to share their reflection, they are encouraged to. This is a space to find solidarity through connection and creativity.

Each call will have the same start and end, but each week we’ll bring one creative invitation. It is not a lesson, but more of a gentle way of exploring how they are feeling right now.

  1. Journal Prompts - could be simply a private reflection, followed by optional sharing e.g. Think of one person who has gained significantly from your business and what they might thank you for, What is something you’ve lost that nobody sees or recognises? What has become easier since the ending?

  2. Poetry and literature - I will read out a piece of poetry or passage from a book that opens up a theme - grief, impermanence, acceptance, identity, or hope and invite people to reflect on a line that stayed with them / and share if their experience if they wish to.

  3. A prism through which to look through -e.g. identity fusion, philosophical or psychological concepts around letting go and grief psychology, it could be a metaphor or even simply an image.

  4. A self-care idea to share on how we are looking after ourselves.

  5. Letter writing, perhaps to your business, your former self, a former colleague or investor, or your future self.

  6. I share a short, anonymised story from my research, with permission where needed. Not a business-school case study about what went wrong, but a human story about what happened afterwards. I can then ask: "What part of this person's experience feels familiar?"

  7. Rituals - sharing an idea of an ending ritual that they could try with themselves and with co-founders etc.
